Chase statement to Excel / CSV

Chase checking statements list transactions with a month and day but no year, and a single amount column where withdrawals are negative. This converter supplies the right year from the statement period, splits amounts into debits and credits, and checks each line against the printed balance.

Convert your Chase statement

Private by design: your PDF is read by your own browser. It is never uploaded, and nothing is stored on a server. The password, if you type one, is used once to open the file and then forgotten.

Text-based PDF, up to 25 MB and 300 pages. On a computer you can also drop the file here.

Always compare the converted file with your original statement before using it for tax filing, loans or audits. The converted file is not an official bank document.

How to download your Chase statement

Chase's paperless statements page explains where statements live online.

  1. On chase.com, sign in, open the Main Menu in the top left corner of your dashboard and choose "Statements & documents".
  2. Choose the year and the account, then use the Open or Save icon next to the statement you want.
  3. In the Chase Mobile app, tap the Profile & Settings icon, select "Statements & documents" in Document manager, then Statements, your account, the year and the statement. It opens as a PDF.
  4. Chase says that, depending on the account type, you can access up to 7 years of statements.

Save the PDF as it is. You don't need to print it or change it before converting.

Menus change; if these steps don't match, follow Chase's own help page. Type the bank's address yourself and download statements only from the official website or app.

How we read a Chase statement

In a typical Chase checking statement, the transactions sit under a "TRANSACTION DETAIL" heading:

Column in the PDFColumn in your spreadsheet
DATE (MM/DD)Date
DESCRIPTIONDescription
AMOUNT (negative = withdrawal)Debit or Credit
BALANCEBalance
  • Dates have no year. We take it from the statement period line (for example "December 15, 2025 through January 14, 2026"), so December rows get 2025 and January rows get 2026.
  • Negative amounts become debits and positive amounts become credits; the signed Amount column is also kept in the export.
  • "Beginning Balance" and "Ending Balance" lines anchor the balance check at both ends.
  • Card purchase descriptions often contain their own date (such as 12/15); that stays inside the description.

Common problems

Dates show the wrong year

That happens if the statement period line is missing from the PDF. Check the first page of your PDF; if it is cut off, download the full statement again.

Withdrawals came out as positive numbers

Debits are exported as positive numbers in the Debit column, which is the usual bookkeeping layout. The Amount column keeps the sign (negative for money out).

I need QuickBooks or Excel format

Download Excel or CSV here; most accounting tools import CSV. Formats such as QBO are planned but not available yet.

Dates look like day/month

US statements are read month first. In the export options you can choose MM/DD/YYYY, DD/MM/YYYY or YYYY-MM-DD.

FAQ

Is a Chase statement uploaded to convert it?

No. The PDF is opened by your own browser and no server receives it.

What does the confidence badge mean for Chase?

High means at least 99% of rows matched the running balance and the ending balance matched.

Does it work with Chase credit card statements?

Not yet; this version reads checking and savings layouts with a balance column.
